Christmas 2017
Gabe Triplett & Sr. Phyllis Jaszkowiak Advent was about waiting for that “thing” as the shepherds called it. We have waited, now we are here. Here to celebrate. But what do we celebrate? Certainly, many around us are celebrating stuff, possessions, things that will be cool today and gone tomorrow. No, stuff is not what we have waited for and it is not what we celebrate. Tonight we celebrate that which God has always been waiting for and is always celebrating. That we recognize and then proclaim our own dignity as divine dwelling places, and commit ourselves, to give birth to, that which we recognize ourselves to be. Dwelling places of God.

Fourth Sunday of Advent December 24, 2017 Have you ever received a visit from an angel? Sure you have. Angels are those who bring news that changes your life. Sometimes its tidings of great joy, but other times, it’s not so happy news. Regardless, it’s something that rocks your world, and you know you’ll never be the same.

Third Sunday of Advent December 17, 2017 “My friends, do not lose heart. We were made for these times. I have heard from so many recently who are deeply and properly bewildered. They are concerned about the state of affairs in our world now. Ours is a time of almost daily astonishment and often righteous rage over the latest degradations of what matters most to civilized, visionary people.” This quote from Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Theologian and Psychologist, written a few years ago seems to fit our times today.

First Sunday of Advent Leif Kehrwald Imagine you lived in a time long, long ago, in a place far, far away where life and sustenance were simple. Not easy, but much simpler than today. Imagine that you have one cup from which to drink, and one bowl from which to eat. Day in, day out, every single day you drink from your cup and eat from your bowl. Those earthen vessels sustain you. And everyone in your village has their own cup and bowl. And imagine, if by tragic accident, your cup or bowl gets broken. You would not eat or drink until the potter of your village can make you a new one. So, you’re very careful and protective of your cup and bowl. |
