Social Justice

Welcome to the Social Justice Ministry!

What is Social Justice?
Social Justice teaches us that all people are made in the image of God and so possess an equal and inalienable worth. It means that governments, institutions, and individuals should give equal opportunities to all people without engaging in discrimination or the taking of lives. The Seven Themes of Catholic Social Teaching are at the heart of this ideology. Engaging in social justice is not as heavy of a burden as one might think. It could be as simple as holding up signs with your neighbors and acknowledging that black lives matters. In fact, St. Charles is doing just that. Our current focus in the Social Justice Ministry is racial justice.

How Can You Get Involved?
  • Check out our Racial Justice page. It offers valuable resources to help educate us on racism and the effects it has on everyone's lives.
  • Attend St. Charles' GIFT event on September 13th to listen to those effected most by racism and what everyone can do to help.
  • Participate in events in your neighborhood and make new friends.
  • Follow St. Charles on the Sunday Page for updates on community events that you might want to attend.
  • Pray. Go to your place of worship. At St. Charles, we believe that every life matters and will except you with open arms.
  • Accept that change and an end to racism starts with a change in you.
