The faith and values of St. John Baptist de La Salle
A faith enrichment opportunityWhen you are around people steeped in the Lasallian tradition, there are several phrases and expressions of faith that you will hear over and over again. They are a direct expression of the core values of St. John Baptist de La Salle.
Each Monday (beginning Oct 11 and ending Nov 15) we broke open one of these expressions through interview and discussion with a member of the De La Salle community. |
The live series has concluded.

Program
As we get to know the DLSNC students, faculty, and staff we will likely hear:
Episode 1: St. John Baptist de La Salle . . . pray for us. Learn a bit about the patron saint of all teachers, his desire to serve and educate the poor, and his founding of the Christian Brothers. A conversation with Dave Gregory, DLSNC theology teacher. See video below.
Episode 2: Let us remember we are in the holy presence of God. Faith in the presence of God. A Lasallian school nurtures belief in the living presence of God in our world. Faith in the presence of God calls all students into a deeper awareness of their saving relationship with a caring and loving God and to see the world through the “eyes of faith.” A conversation with Oscar Leong, President DLSNC. See video below.
Episode 3: Enter to learn, leave to serve. Concern for the poor and social justice. A Lasallian school calls its members to an awareness of the poor and victims of injustice and responds to their needs through programs of community service, advocacy, and justice education. A conversation with Ed Zupcic, DLSNC Social Science Department Chair. See video below.
Episode 4: Live Jesus in our hearts . . . Forever. Respect for all persons. A Lasallian school engages in a concerted effort to respect the dignity of all persons. Respect-filled relationships are at the heart of Lasallian education and are a key expression of the acknowledgement of each other’s identity as children of God. A conversation with Pam Wood, DLSNC Counselor. See video below.
Episode 5: Teaching minds and touching hearts. Quality Education. A Lasallian school provides an education that prepares students not only for college and career but also for life. This education advances the students’ abilities to use their talents to critically examine the world in light of the message of the Gospels and to take greater responsibility for their own education. A conversation with Andy Poundstone, DLSNC Academic Resource Center (ARC) Coordinator.
Episode 6: The Lasallian family. Inclusive Community. A Lasallian school is a united community where diversity is respected, where no one is left out, and where everyone finds a place. Individuals within the school community recognize and accept another’s strengths and limitations. A conversation with Amanda Rodela Weingarten, DLSNC College Counselor.
