14th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Theme: Today we will hear about the early disciples who left their homes, families, and belongings to preach the message of Jesus. They traveled empty-handed, facing unknown situations; relying on their faith and the kindness of strangers. So what are we willing to do, as modern-day-disciples, to bring the message and work of Jesus into the lives of others?

Act of Spiritual CommunionMy Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire to receive you in my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, Come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

Sunday PrayerJesus sends us out to follow his example of love and care for all. For the times we have not loved as we should, we seek the Lord’s mercy:
Lord Jesus, you are all goodness and truth: Lord, have mercy. Christ Jesus, in you we find life lived for others: Christ, have mercy. Lord Jesus, you call us to labor in your fields: Lord, have mercy. IntercessionsO God, you send us out to do your will and to build your kingdom. We bring you our prayers today so that we might better respond to your call and mission.
That church leaders remain fully committed to living for and among the community of believers. We pray . . . O God, hear our prayer. That those in government leadership remember the Pledge of Allegiance and work tirelessly for “liberty and justice for all. We pray . . . O God, hear our prayer. That civility, mutual respect, and gentleness prevail in government and politics. We pray . . . O God, hear our prayer. That all farmers and field workers may enjoy just working conditions, and know that their labors are for the good of all. We pray . . . O God, hear our prayer. That our community of faith expand our understanding of the Kingdom of God and reach beyond our walls to people most in need of God’s love and peace. We pray . . . O God, hear our prayer. That those in need of our prayer, listed in the bulletin and in the Parish Book of Prayer, find comfort in the prayer of our community. We pray . . . O God, hear our prayer. God of peace, you send us into the world with the message of your Son. Hear and grant the prayers we offer, through Christ our Lord. Amen. |
