Oak Leaf Relocation Help Needed

7/16/2018

The Interfaith Alliance on Poverty has been working to help with the temporary relocation of Oak Leaf residents while the park is remodeled and new homes are brought in.  Many from St. Charles have helped out at the Oak leaf and here is another opportunity.  Please read the letter from Co-Chair and Madeleine parishioner Dave Albertine below.  If you are able and willing to help feel free to contact Dave directly or St. Charles Pastoral Associate Gabe Triplett gabet@stcharlespdx.org

Dear Members of the Interfaith Alliance,   As you know we are continuing our efforts helping residents at the Oak Leaf Mobile Home pack and move to temporary quarters for the next six to nine months as the Oak Leaf Park is rehabilitated.  We have formed four congregational teams and would be delighted if some of our other congregations could form a team of three to four people.  Some additional teams would be helpful, especially now. (If interested as an individual, you can join with others from other congregations to form a team that works with one family in this process.)  Residents need to pack and move from the park by August 15th with most moves occurring, hopefully, after August 1st.  Temporary housing is being located, but some things remain to be finalized.  Teams would help residents pack and put belonging into pods that are near their mobile homes and prepare for moving to temporary motels/apartments.  In addition teams would help support individual residents and resident families by checking on them during the months in transition and helping with any needs they may have.  Finally, teams would help residents move and return to Oak Leaf once the final work is done at the park.   In addition, Janet Keating, Oak Leaf park manager could use some clerical help in dealing with HUD federal forms and processes.  If anyone has experience with that, it would be helpful.  Also, we need someone who could help manage the Pod process of ordering additional pods and making sure full pods are taken to storage.  If anyone is interested, let me know and I will give you additional details.   The process at Oak Leaf has presented a number of challenges these last months.  It is not unexpected given the needs of residents and their families, the difficulties of transition, and changing staff and planning.  However, with patience and good cheer all will be accomplished.  I am sending out this call for additional help from our congregations, but I am especially grateful to Westminster Presbyterian, Rose City Park, and Madeleine Parish members who have already invested considerable time and effort thus far.   I am sure you may have additional questions, please contact me by email or phone.     Best to All,   Dave Albertine   503-720-6458 Cell davea51@gmail.com
