Leif Kehrwald was installed as the new Parish Pastoral Administrator with special rituals at both the 5pm Saturday and 10am Sunday liturgies, August 27-28. Here is a description of the four symbolic gifts that were presented to him by key leadership groups of the parish.
PASTORAL COUNCIL: Leif, accept this copy of the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy, a symbol of the pastoral care of the parish. We pledge our support as together we care for each other in this faith community.
ADMINISTRATIVE COUNCIL: Leif, accept this basket, a symbol of the sharing of our money and other resources so that we may care for the poor and for this building where the church gathers.
STAFF: Leif, accept this cross, s symbol of Christ, our model. May it remind you of the mission of our parish. Together, let us open our doors in welcome to the diversity of our church. May we continue our commitment to minister with and in our surrounding neighborhood, and to welcome all who seek to enter this church.
SR. PHYLLIS: Leif, accept this key, a symbol of the trust given to you to unlock the goodness of each person in this parish, and to lock up all that would harm our parish. May this symbol be one that unifies, enriches, and opens us all to God’s great mercy, love and care.
Much thanks goes to all involved in the Installation, including the Altar Society, Administrative Council, Pastoral Council, Parish Staff, Choir, Folk Group, Sr. Phyllis, and many others. Leif is truly grateful for the welcome you have extended to him.
