NOT THAT SHOCKING!

Labor unions and the Church hold social justice as essential and central to who they are.  It's not that shocking then that we have paired up to help the residents of the Cully neighborhood.   The Local Electrician’s union,  IBEW Local 48, donated $2,000 to St. Charles to pay for materials needed to do electrical upgrades for two families living in the arbor mobile home park.  In addition,
they have offered to help supply trained and certified electricians to assist our mobile home repair program.  We can not thank the hard working men and women of Local 48 enough for their solidarity and generosity!!  If your union, community group or business is interested in joining our housing program’s “community allies” please contact Pastoral Associate and Housing Justice Liaison Gabe Triplett at 503-281-6561 or at gabet@stcharlespdx.org.

Catholic social teaching is built on a commitment to the poor. This commitment arises from our experiences of Christ in the Eucharist.
