​We seek to celebrate the launch of our solar energy project, learn how solar energy works, and see how it all connects to our call to care for God’s creation.

Here's what we did!

1. Eat. We started with a terrific meal pulled pork sandwich, beans and vegetable.
2. Sing. We sang the GIFT song. Listen to it here.
3. Pray. We prayed the GIFT prayer. See it here.
4. Create. We created posters that encourage people to heed God's call to care for the earth. (See pictures to the left.)
5. Video. We viewed and discussed the video "Care for God's Creation from Catholic Relief Services. Participants talked about what they learned, and the differences/similarities between their poster and the video. 
6. St Charles Solar Energy Project. We learned about the St. Charles Solar Energy Project: Gabe shared a bit of history on how it got started. Carolina Iraheta of Verde shared about our collaboration with Verde and how important clean energy is to the neighborhood. Berit Kling from Pacific Power/Blue Sky shared a bit about Blue Sky grants and congratulated St. Charles on receiving a $300k grant for this project. Finally, we viewed a video by Leif that shows the solar panels on the roof of the school.
7. How it Works. We then viewed a TedEd video that explains how solar panels generate power.
8. Discuss. Finally, we had a discussion about how each of us is called to care for the earth, care for God's creation is ways big and small.
9. ​Sing. We ended by praying the Lord's Prayer together.
